Job summary

Devonshire care Center is seeking a Health Care Aide to provide direct personal and nursing care under supervision. You will assist residents with activities of daily living and support restorative care, following established care plans.

The role requires attention to detail, strong English communication, and teamwork with nurses, residents and families. Training is provided to maintain high-quality care standards in a senior living environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal and nursing care for assigned residents as per care plans.

• Maintain records reflecting each resident’s condition, care, and treatments.
• Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery and report changes to appetite/hydration.

Job description

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse and supervision by the Resident Care Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct personal and nursing care for assigned residents in accordance with the policies and work routines of Devonshire care Center.

Assists in providing restorative care for residents; assists with ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.

Assists in the nursing process by observing and reporting changes in the residents’ physical and emotional condition.

Knows and understands the guidelines of care of assigned residents as outlined in the resident care plans and provides consistent, quality care as outlined in the care plan.

Assists with meal service and nourishment delivery to residents and provides feeding assistance as required and reports and records any changes to appetite and/or hydration.

Assists with the maintenance of records reflecting each residents’ condition, care, and specific treatments.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: CHLA License
• Graduate of an approved Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker course or equivalent, as recognized by Alberta Health Services.
• Preferred: Experience in working with seniors and/or chronic care residents in a health care facility. For those working on specialized units (i.e., Alzheimer’s), a willingness to complete a course on the specialty.
