Join us as a Health Care Aide (HCA) at Optima Living

Located at Hawthorne, Cochrane AB, Optima Living manages Independent Living, Assisted Living, Supportive Living, and Memory Care communities across Alberta and British Columbia. We are seeking a dedicated Health Care Aide responsible for personal care services, medication administration, light housekeeping, meal assistance, and engaging residents in social activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform light housekeeping in resident suites and common areas
  • Support personal care activities such as dressing, bathing, and managing incontinence
  • Assist with simple transfers and respond to medical emergencies calmly
  • Help with resident laundry and meal service as needed
  • Follow Care Plans and report any changes or concerns
  • Work collaboratively with residents to meet their care requirements
  • Maintain competence through ongoing knowledge, skill, and evidence-based practice
  • Adhere to provincial care standards, legislation, and safety regulations
  • Practice accident and injury prevention through safe work practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification
  • Registration with the provincial health care registry
  • Completion of Medication Administration course
  • Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with residents, peers, and visitors
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work flexible shifts
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift 25 pounds
  • Compassion, proficiency, and experience in assisting residents
Conditions of Employment:
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Clear Police and Vulnerable Sector Checks
