We are seeking a Health Care Aide to join our Specialty Program Team within Adult Day Programs, providing care and support to clients to promote engagement and participation. The Health Care Aide offers personal care and support in a community setting, working according to an established care plan in collaboration with clients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Supervised by a regulated health professional, they may perform restricted activities under specific circumstances, document care activities, and participate in in-service education. This position is based at the ADP Program at Sturgeon Community Hospital.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide personal assistance, support activities of daily living, and deliver services to patients (clients, residents) requiring short-term or ongoing support, following the patient care plan and facility policies. Your role involves working closely with patients, families, and caregivers across various care settings, assisting nurses with routine care needs such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety, supporting organized activities, and observing/reporting on patient wellbeing. Under supervision, you will help maintain a safe environment and ensure effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends
Salary Range: $20.78 - $26.03/hour
Requirements: Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire, active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory, BCLS-HCP certification, and 6 months experience working with older adults. Nursing students enrolled in Alberta-approved programs with practicum hours may also qualify.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with older adults in adult day programs, medication assistance certification, experience with connect care, and recreational programming experience.
This is an entry-level, part-time position in the hospitals and healthcare industry, with a focus on health care provision in community settings.
