We are currently seeking a Health Care Aide to join our team. The role involves providing hands-on personal care services, medication administration, light housekeeping, meal service assistance, and participation in social-recreational activities.
Responsibilities:
- Performs light housekeeping in resident suites and common areas
- Supports personal care activities such as dressing, bathing, incontinence care
- Performs simple transfers
- Responds calmly to medical emergencies
- Assists with resident laundry and meal service as needed
- Follows Care Plans and reports any changes or concerns
- Works with residents to meet their care requirements
- Demonstrates ongoing competence utilizing knowledge, skills, judgment, and evidence-based practices in caring for aging adults
- Ensures compliance with provincial continuing care health service standards, legislation, codes, regulations, and safety statutes
- Practices accident and injury prevention through safe work procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification
- Registration with provincial health care registry
- Completion of Medication Administration course
- Experience in a residential care setting preferred
- Demonstrates infection control procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple requests
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and problem-solve
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift 25 pounds
- Displays compassion, education, proficiency, and experience in resident care
Conditions of Employment:
- Completion of CPR and First Aid
- Clear Police Information Check
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
