The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Aging Care & Senior Living communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB. We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families. Locally, in Calgary, BSF also operates Alberta’s largest second-stage shelter providing safe shelter and comprehensive support services to women and children leaving abuse and violence.

The Health Care Aide is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for providing direct care to assist in the activities of daily living, comfort, and safety of our residents and indirect services to support the overall provision of care in their assigned area.

Engage and collaborate with residents, families and team members

What you will do:
Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the resident needs
Observe and report unusual signs/symptoms and incidences to the profession al nursing staff
Provide timely information to the supervising professional regarding observed changes in physical, mental or emotional status/behaviour of the residents
Participate in the care plan for our residents
Recognize residents’ challenges related to vision, hearing, speech, and language and adapt practice to minimize these challenges
Document all care provided and behaviours noted on the appropriate forms and in the Point of Care (POC) system
Promote a healthy and safe practice environment – recognizing safety issues and reporting them immediately
