Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Health Care Aide to join the Elk Point Healthcare Centre in Elk Point, AB. The HCA will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patients’ daily living activities and participate in care plans, with focus on dignity, safety and family-centred care.

Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, nutrition, mobility and recreation, observing health status, and helping with programs. Employment is casual/relief with shift variability.

The Elk Point Healthcare Centre has an opportunity for a passionate Health Care Aide (HCA) dedicated to patient- and family-centered care. This role will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team in the 12-bed acute care and 5-bed emergency department. You will provide personal assistance and support services to the clients requiring care. Working under a regulated health professional following patient care plans and facility policies, you will assist with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety, while also supporting organized activities or programs. Superior interpersonal skills will be used daily as you work closely with clients, families, caregivers, and health professionals. You will help maintain a safe environment, observe and report on patients' health and well-being, and ensure effective communication. Your role includes direct client care demonstrating genuine interest and respect for clients and families in your care. Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Training or experience with Connect Care.
