Job summary

Carewest is seeking a temporary part-time Health Care Aide for the Neuro Rehabilitation program at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre in Calgary. The HCA reports to the Director of Care and provides ongoing client care, monitoring status and reporting changes to nursing staff.

• Must be physically capable of lifting, transferring and repositioning clients.
• Active and current registration with CLHA required.
• Related health care facility experience is an asset.
• Program-specific training/experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing client care under the supervision of nursing staff.
• Observe, monitor and report changes in client status to RN/LPN.
• Deliver prescribed medications accurately as per policy.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards per Carewest policies.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care.

The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure.

In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

Neuro Rehabilitation Program – for adults who have had a neurological injury, such as a stroke, and require additional assessment, recuperation and rehabilitation before returning to the community.

Qualifications and Experience
