Job summary

Carewest Innovative Health Care invites applications for a Temporary Part Time Health Care Aide at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre, Calgary, Alberta.

You will provide ongoing client care, observe and report status changes to the RN/LPN, and administer prescribed medications according to policy. Reporting to the Director of Care, you join the Neuro Rehabilitation Program for adults with neurological injuries such as a stroke.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Must be physically capable of managing frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
• Active and current registration with CLHA required.
• Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
• Program specific training/experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing client care as part of the interprofessional health care team.

• Deliver prescribed medications accurately per policy and procedure.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care.

The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure.

In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary:

Neuro Rehabilitation Program - for adults who have had a neurological injury, such as a stroke, and require additional assessment, recuperation and rehabilitation before returning to the community.
