Job summary

Carewest, Calgary's leader in exceptional care, is seeking Health Care Aides (HCA) for temporary part-time positions at Sarcee, ALC BW. The role supports clients with daily living activities, monitors status, and collaborates with the nursing team.

Required: high school diploma, Alberta HCA program, English proficiency, and current CLHA registration. Pay ranges from $20.77 to $26.02 per hour; shifts include days/evenings. Term ends March 31, 2027; immunization and police checks may be requested.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, plus graduation from an Alberta Health Care Aide program.
• English proficiency is required for reading, writing and communication.
• Must be physically capable of frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning.
• Active and current registration with CLHA required.
• Related healthcare facility experience is an asset.
• Program-specific training/experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing client care under supervision and observe changes in condition.
• Report client status changes to the RN/LPN and document appropriately.
• Deliver prescribed medications in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Maintain professional standards and follow Carewest policies.
• Assist with mobility and daily living activities as required.

The Opportunity

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

ALC - short-stay beds for clients who may no longer require the resources of acute or sub-acute care, but who do require care and support while they await an appropriate living option.

Qualifications and Experience

• - High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
• - Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.
• - Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
• - Active and current registration with CLHA required.
• - Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
• - Program specific training/experience is an asset.
