Position Summary:

The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides support to residents, their families, and visitors in a home-like environment that enables independence, choice, dignity, privacy, and individuality. This position involves assisting residents with personal care, social support, and participation in recreation and leisure activities.

The HCA must communicate effectively in all forms (reading, writing, verbal articulation, and active listening) to implement recommendations and develop plans according to Covenant Care’s protocols and applicable legislation. Confidentiality is paramount in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide resident care that acknowledges choice, dignity, privacy, and individuality.
  • Ensure service is provided in a manner reflective of Covenant Care’s standards.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation within the team.

In alignment with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position ensures that residents receive quality care and service according to policies and procedures, especially during the resident’s end-of-life journey.

Qualifications:

  • Completed recognized Health Care Aide Certificate.
  • Proof of enrollment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
  • Dementia education is an asset.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in an Assisted Living/Continuing Care facility preferred.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

Processing may take 3 to 4 weeks, so it is advisable to begin this process in advance. Not having your CRC will delay your ability to commence employment.
