Job summary

Shared Health - Selkirk Mental Health Centre is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to provide direct patient care in a geriatric setting. You will assist with activities of daily living, support independence, and help patients achieve their goals under supervision.

Responsibilities include adapting to shift work, maintaining PHIA/WHMIS standards, and collaborating with the health care team to ensure safe, person-centred care.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct care to patients within the Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC); assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), supporting independence and patient goal acquisition. The HCA demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision and values of SMHC while adhering to standards of care, policies and procedures.

Experience

• Experience providing care to individuals in a mental health setting, or with physical and cognitive impairments is preferred

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Minimum Grade 10
• Successful completion of recognized Health Care Aide course required

Physical Requirements

• Moderate to heavy physical effort required. Involves physical activities such as standing, transferring, and transporting patients/residents and equipment
