Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a Health Care Aide for Ward E3, focusing on providing care for acute medicine and telemetry patients. The role involves observational patient care and supporting nursing staff, with an emphasis on teamwork and effective communication. Candidates must possess relevant qualifications and be prepared to work collaboratively in a teaching hospital environment.
Ward E3 is an active adult general internal medicine that provides care for Acute Medicine and Telemetry patients. An interdisciplinary team provides care to an acutely ill, primarily geriatric, patient population, including patients with multi-system chronic illnesses.
Position Summary
Provides clinical support for Ward E3 by providing observational patient care and supporting Registered Nurses on modified duties. Functions according to the job description for Health Care Aides.

Qualifications
1. Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program or nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program
2. Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
3. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
4. Demonstrated initiative and judgement appropriate for the position
5. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
6. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
7. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
8. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
