Job summary

Covenant Living in Edmonton is seeking a Health Care Aide for Saint Thomas. This temporary part-time role (0.40 FTE), evening shift 1500-2300, runs Sep 08 - Dec 18, 2026, and supports residents in a home-like setting with personal care and social activities.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team, uphold our mission and values, complete required HC Aide certification steps, and maintain confidentiality. English fluency is required; French is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Completed recognized Health Care Aide Certificate.
  • Proof of enrollment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.
  • Dementia education is an asset.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in Assisted Living/Continuing Care preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Ability to speak French an asset.
  • Vaccination against required communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident care in a home-like environment while respecting dignity and independence.
  • Support residents in activities of daily living and social/recreational participation.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow Covenant Care policies and procedures.

Position Summary:

As a member of the care team, the Health Care Aide (HCA) provides support to residents, their family and visitors in a home-like environment that enables independence, choice, dignity, privacy and individuality. An individual in this position assists residents as necessary in areas of personal care, social support, and assisting residents to participate in recreation and leisure activities.

The position requires the ability to communicate in all forms (reading, writing, clear verbal articulation and active listening) to implement recommendations and develop plans and procedures in accordance with Covenant Care’s protocol and also with applicable legislation. Information learned and shared is extremely sensitive, and it is expected that the Health Care Aide maintains absolute confidentiality.

  • This position is responsible for providing resident carein a way that acknowledges resident choice, dignity, privacy, independence, culture, spirituality and individuality inclusive of a home-like environment.
  • Ensuring service is provided in a manner reflective of Covenant Care’s standards.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Consistently promoting teamwork and cooperation within the team.

In accordance with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position is responsible for ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures. Provides support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.

This position will:

  • Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values

Qualifications:
