Alberta Health Services is seeking a Health Care Aide to provide essential patient care services under the supervision of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring they receive personalized care and support within their community. This position requires a Health Care Aide Certificate, effective communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Your Opportunity:
The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides patient care services as an unregulated worker under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The HCA offers direct care to clients in their homes, both in the community and lodge settings. Responsibilities include providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living as outlined in the care plan, such as personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and mobilizing. The role also involves providing emotional support, respite care, and performing healthcare duties like dressing, medication assistance, catheter and ostomy care, and exercises for mobility and strength. Additionally, the HCA provides essential housekeeping services to support the client's activities of daily living.

Description:
As an HCA, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing personal assistance and support services to patients (clients, residents) requiring short-term or ongoing help, in accordance with care plans and policies. You will support activities such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety, assisting nurses with routine care, observing and reporting on patient wellbeing, and maintaining a safe environment in collaboration with health professionals.
