Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) has a fantastic opportunity to join our organization as a Health & Benefits Senior Actuarial Associate. This is Hybrid position and can be based in either Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto or Quebec City.

This role is focused on behind the scenes work in our Simple select by Mercer Marsh BenefitsSM Centre of Excellence. Simple select by MMBSM is Mercer’s exclusive “One-Stop-Shop” for small to mid-sized organizations' group benefits and human resources needs.

Responsibilities
  • Simple select - Being an ambassador Partner with SME Leader to manage technical aspects of SME placement quotation, plan, experience monitoring and renewal insurer negotiationsCollaborate with operations to ensure all terms and conditions released to renewal methodologies and placement process are implementedGuide technical team effectively throughout all placement processesDevelop and improve efficiency leveraging new technologyCollaborate with Operational co-ordinator to develop procedural efficiencies and adapt newly launched technologyLead template developmentLead educating all level team members on process, procedures as well as new productsCollaborate with Canadian Leadership on all change management and day to day business operationsDevelop and coordinate local team education on all new products and templatesManage relationships with internal consultants and respond to day-to-day inquiriesAsist Leadership with quarterly insurer meetings, to review : Products, quoting turnaround time, service agreements, product and competitor LandscapeMaintain National Mercer client databasesAssist and lead team workflow meetings with People Leader
  • Simple select - MMB block renewals Lead vendor block renewals analysis and negotiationLead block renewal team to collect and review renewal data for accuracy and reasonablenessPrepare templated client reports to cascade to local consulting teamsRespond to questions from local teams related to the block renewal
  • Simple select block Experience reports Maintain experience reporting calendar for each Simple select by MMB preferred partner and lead the processLead gathering necessary data from the preferred partner review to ensure it is complete, accurate and reasonable; and prepare templated experience reports with the support of other Simple select by MMB teammatesManage and coordinate with other Simple select by MMB teammates to ensure all experience reports are sent in timely fashion
  • Simple select - Templates Lead development and evolution of tools and templates used for workflow, financial summaries and block renewalsOffer suggestions for improved processesLiaise with local consultant teams to ensure templates are current and valid
  • Simple select - MMB marketings Oversee review and manage request for marketings from local consulting teams with our preferred providersOversee Completion of marketing and financial reports into templated reports within required turnaround timePeer review other Simple select by MMB teammates work to ensure accuracy and reasonableness of quotesTrack ongoing outside panel offerings and report to Canadian LeadershipLead maintaining block quote tracking tool and act as mentor for the teamLead assigning quote requests to team and peer review prior to sending them to local consulting teamLead tracking carrier inconsistencies for competitiveness and report to SME Leadership team for quarterly insurer reviewEnsure all negotiated terms and conditions are applied
What You Need to Have :
  • Project Management, Ownership, and Leading experience
  • Previous employee benefits experience 3-5 years
  • Strong analytical, Excel, VBA, Alteryx and working knowledge of MS-Office software programs
  • Knowledge of other programming languages, like Python or SQL is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of group benefit underwriting principles, placement methodologies and various funding methods
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, bilingualism in French and English is an asset
  • An ambitious nature and a keen contributor within a team environment
  • Intellectual curiosity; seeking opportunities to develop new skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as work in teams and be flexible to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs
  • Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • LLQP designation is an asset
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain appropriate Life licenses as required by provincial regulations and Mercer policies
  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of Alteryxor similar software
