Job description

As a Health & Benefits Analyst you will support a wide variety of projects involving the design funding measurement and financial analysis of the full spectrum of employer health and benefit programs including medical dental life disability voluntary benefits etc. and will contribute to a clients benefits strategy through managing the entire carrier procurement and negotiation process. You will interface with client service teams and global delivery centers to contribute to analyses and client deliverables ensuring quality standards are met. You will have the opportunity to significantly grow your health and benefits business acumen as well as your financial project management negotiation and communication skills by working on cutting edge projects alongside leaders in the industry.

The Role

  • Play an active support role in multiple clientteams developing financial analyses outputs and client deliverables across a regional team.
  • Develop working proficiency of core financial actuarial and analyticstheories models and tools.
  • Support accurate and reliable claim reporting and financial modeling to guide client decisions.
  • Develop basic knowledge of all broadbased benefit programs (e.g. health care pharmacy wellbeing life disability voluntary benefits etc.)
  • Assist with financial modeling of benefit plan designs cost avoidance / funding strategies and budget projections and rate / contribution development
  • Take responsibility for execution of specific tasks that contribute to financial analytical and placement deliverables for clients with guidance and adherence to stated deadlines.
  • Manage followup questions / request from the carriers / vendors
  • Collect summarize and analyze proposal findings; support negotiations make recommendations for finalist carriers and communication to carriers
  • Design and manage placement (renewal / marketing) deliverables with a strict adherence to stated deadlines
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on crossfunctional teams
  • Partner with Global Delivery Centers and Client Service teams to deliver superior project management.
  • Comply with internal excellence and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to the development of new intellectual capital

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience ideally gained in a benefit consulting / brokerage firm or health underwriting / actuarial function of an insurance company
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and produce quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Strong knowledge of benefit program products & services underwriting and funding concepts
  • Experience with both traditional and flexible benefit programs design elements renewal pricing analysis risk assessment negotiations RFP process and analysis
  • Strong analytical thinker with experience working with data developing insights to draw conclusions
  • A desire and ability to support the client team in expanding relationships with clients
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues with limited information
  • Polished and well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Selfstarter attitude curious with an ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Creative and integrative skills
  • Ability to direct work of more junior colleagues and provide feedback
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Life and Health license required within 180 days of joining
  • Relevant experience and / or university degree
