Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience with vulnerable populations or in care settings.
  • First Aid Certification is an asset.
  • Food Safe Certification is an asset.

About this Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager of Health, the Health and Wellness Support Worker will provide transportation for Health, Home Care and Wellness clients, and additionally provide transportation to and from Health and Wellness programming as required. The Health and Wellness Support Worker will provide additional support in maintaining the Health and Wellness fleet, delivery of supplies and items to community members, maintaining storage spaces, and supporting Health and Wellness programs. The Health and Wellness Support Worker will build strong relationships of trust, through modelling and engaging in traditional Syilx beliefs, values and practices, thus improving quality of life and reconnection to Syilx language and culture.

  • Work collaboratively across the Health and Wellness (H&W) department to provide transportation and programming support designed to meet the needs, capabilities and interests of elderly, at- risk populations, encouraging and supporting engagement in healthy lifestyle programs and services
  • Demonstrate healthy social and interpersonal skills, non-judgmental, accepting and supportive, ensuring clients feel heard, validated, emotionally and physically safe
  • Prepare and maintains accurate professional files, records and reports as required
  • Empower clients to engage in self-advocacy for their own crisis management and addictions recovery
  • Maintain organization and control of the H&W storage rooms
  • Maintain H&W vehicle fleet


Must Haves:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience, either through employment or volunteer work—especially with vulnerable populations, care settings, or vehicle-based support is preferred
  • First Aid Certification an asset
  • Food Safe Certification an asset
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends
