Job description

ECC is seeking candidates for a Health and Safety Supervisor. The Health and Safety Supervisor will take a lead role on this project. This is a field position primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements on construction and environmental projects as defined by Company standards, governmental regulations, and contractual obligations. This position reports to the Health and Safety Manager and may oversee loss prevention in multiple projects involving subcontractors.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide support to the Health and Safety Manager.
  2. Coordinate the implementation of Accident Prevention Plans (APP).
  3. Promote and support health and safety programs at project sites.
  4. Oversee the completion of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA).
  5. Lead health and safety training for staff, subcontractors, and other parties as needed.
  6. Author health and safety documentation, reports, logs, and records accurately and timely.
  7. Organize and store documentation as required.
  8. Guide subcontractors, clients, and project teams to adhere to health and safety plans.
  9. Conduct inspections to ensure plan adherence and identify risks.
  10. Take actions to prevent loss and mitigate risks.
  11. Ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  12. Represent the company professionally in interactions with clients and regulatory agencies.
  13. Report incidents and conduct investigations thoroughly.
  14. Implement and track corrective actions.
  15. Supervise and mentor Health & Safety Technicians.
  16. Review subcontractor qualifications.
  17. Coordinate with Quality Control teams.
  18. Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  2. Ability to think independently and reason effectively.
  3. Experience teaching health and safety concepts.
  4. Problem-solving skills and leadership without formal authority.
  5. Knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385 1-1, OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows.
  7. Minimum five years of relevant health and safety experience.
  8. Ability to travel extensively.
  9. Ability to obtain and maintain a military base pass.
  10. Valid US Driver’s license with a good driving record.
  11. Willingness to work on-site at project locations.
  12. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in a dotted line reporting structure.
  2. Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring and hazardous work permits.
  3. Certifications such as ASP, CSP, OHST, CHST.
  4. OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification.
  5. HAZWOPER certifications.

ECC’s targeted base salary range for Toronto, ON is $100,000 to $120,000 CAD annually. Actual salary depends on education, experience, skills, and responsibilities.
