Matchbox is working with an established industrial operation on Vancouver’s North Shore that’s looking to bring on a Health & Safety Specialist for a two-year term. This full-time, site-based role supports a busy project environment and plays a critical part in ensuring contractor safety and risk mitigation across capital work and maintenance programs.

This role is best suited for someone who brings a combination of technical safety knowledge, field-level presence, and strong communication skills. If you’ve worked in industrial or construction environments where high-risk work and contractor coordination are the norm, this could be a great next step.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Working alongside project and engineering teams to integrate safety planning into all phases of project development
  • Preparing and reviewing safety documentation such as FLRAs, Safe Work Plans, and risk assessments
  • Leading pre-job contractor orientations and ensuring alignment with safety protocols before work begins
  • Conducting site walkthroughs, inspections, and audits to verify field-level compliance
  • Supporting safety oversight during major shutdowns and high-risk activities, including some rotating weekend work
  • Leading toolbox talks, participating in investigations, and supporting a culture of safety accountability

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in health and safety, ideally in construction, industrial services, or plant environments
  • Solid understanding of contractor safety management, LOTO, confined space, and permit-to-work systems
  • Familiar with incident management, root cause analysis, and hazard identification processes
  • Proficient in common safety software and reporting tools
  • Safety-related certification or post-secondary education (CRSP or CHSC an asset)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach

If you're looking for a role where you can be hands-on, make an impact, and work with a strong internal team that values safety, this could be the right fit.
