Overview

We are hiring an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist for our bakery in Langley, BC, who will lead initiatives at the bakery level through a culture of safety, core metrics and proactive solutions. Actively working with key stakeholders within the organization to identify and assess conditions that could produce accidents or incidents and then collaboratively prepare and recommend corrective actions with business leaders. The EHS Specialist will be the overall champion of the Bakery Environmental, Health and Safety System.

Salary Range: $80,000/year - $90,000/year (based on experience, skills and qualifications)

Responsibilities
  • Enhance Environmental, Health and Safety awareness throughout the bakery
  • Partner with the Bakery Leadership team to provide guidance and technical support on issues relative to health & safety programs, policies and initiatives
  • Ensure all safety and environmental incidents are thoroughly investigated for root causes and corrective or preventative actions that may be required.
  • Provide motivation, training, coaching, support, inspiration and direction to a diverse workforce
  • Establish and sustain positive employee engagement through effective communications with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems
  • Organize and assist bakery supervision in execution of safety meetings.
  • Assist in Management of Change requirements
  • Conduct workplace inspections to proactively identify and control hazards; prepare required documentation and ensure follow up
Requirements
  • Two years’ experience in Health and Safety
  • Experience in a Health and Safety position in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Experience building relationships, collaborating at all levels in the facility
  • Proven history of leading and influencing positive change relative to health & safety programs, policies and initiatives
