Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Tasks: Administer staff consultation and grievance procedures. Assign projects to subordinates and staff related to work safety, environmental safety and accident prevention.. Motivate staff. Provide information/training to employers, employees and general public. Review HR directives to assure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations . Establish and implement policies and procedures. Inspect spills of hazardous chemicals or products. Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards. Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses. Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment. Oversee development of communication strategies. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Advise senior management. Conduct performance reviews. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: First Aid Certificate. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of inspection and investigation: Workplace. Area of work experience: Construction site. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Work under pressure. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat.
