Health & Safety Manager

Location: Essex

Advocate Group are proud to be representing a global FMCG business in the search for their next Health & Safety Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading organisation with a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement across their operations.

About the Role

As Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and energy standards at site level. You will be the subject matter expert, guiding teams on best practice, driving performance, and embedding a proactive safety-first culture.

This is a dual-focus role covering both Health & Safety and Industrial / Environmental Compliance, where you will balance day-to-day regulatory requirements with forward-thinking strategy to support long-term business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead health & safety initiatives across the site, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and company standards.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
  • Conduct incident investigations, define root causes, and track corrective actions.
  • Maintain and oversee all health, safety, and environmental documentation, audits, and inspections.
  • Deliver training and coaching to managers and employees to strengthen a culture of safety.
  • Act as the primary contact point for external regulatory bodies and inspections.
  • Oversee environmental compliance in areas such as energy use, waste, emissions, water, and refrigerants.
  • Lead the site’s sustainability roadmap, ensuring accurate data reporting and compliance with central governance.
  • Partner with procurement and project teams to embed HSE standards into new equipment design, construction, and contractor management.
About You

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in health & safety, environmental management, or industrial sustainability—ideally within an FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial setting. You will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of UK health & safety and environmental legislation.
  • Experience in managing audits, inspections, and investigations.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret data and legislation.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive continuous improvement.
Why Join?

This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact within a global FMCG business, shaping both site safety standards and long-term sustainability strategy. You will be part of a company that values responsibility, innovation, and professional development, with opportunities to grow your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
