Adecco is currently hiring a full-time proactive and experienced Health & Safety Lead to champion safety initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental regulations across our client's projects. In this role, you will provide strong leadership, drive continuous improvement in health and safety practices, and support the successful execution of projects in the mining or heavy construction sectors.

  • Pay Rate : $75.00 / hour + LOA + Mileage expenses
  • Location : Sparwood, BC
  • Shift : 13 days on 8 days off
  • Job type : Temporary | Full-time | 1-year contract

  • Responsibilities :

  • Act as a courageous safety leader by adhering to and sponsoring all safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Proactively engage and lead the project team to continuously improve the Health & Safety (H&S) management system.
  • Support and coordinate the implementation of H&S programs across all project phases.
  • Lead contractor safety risk assessments prior to mobilization and throughout project execution.
  • Apply the principles of Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Mitigation to all activities.
  • Develop Risk Assessments, Inductions, and Emergency Response Plans in collaboration with project leadership.
  • Coordinate and maintain all required safety training for the project team.
  • Document all workplace H&S incidents and investigations, applying corrective actions as needed.
  • Track and report leading and lagging indicators and project safety metrics; contribute to developing new data capture systems and innovative field processes.
  • Develop and manage annual H&S budgets and provide input into overall project budgets.
  • Coordinate the collection of baseline environmental data and maintain environmental monitoring programs in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote occupational health and hygiene best practices by recognizing, monitoring, and mitigating workplace exposure risks.
  • Maintain the Project Legal Obligations Register and ensure compliance activities are completed on time
  • Lead a high preforming team of Health & Safety Coordinators
  • Provide Health & Safety leadership, coaching, mentorship, and training for contractors, consultants, and employees within the Coal BU to meet site and corporate Health & Safety objectives
  • Qualifications :

  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety preferred; equivalent field experience in mining or heavy construction safety will be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Health & Safety within the mining or heavy construction industries.
  • Solid understanding of local, national, and international safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proven experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of the BC HSRC (Mines Act), knowledge of day to day construction activities (hoisting and rigging, work at heights etc)
  • Support Confined Space entries
  • Develop H&S Management Plans
  • Develop Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans
  • Support Lock Out Tag Out Protocols
  • Support Contractor Management requirements.
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
