As a Health and Safety Consultant/Trainer for Superior Strategies, you will be required to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Within this role, you will promote the benefits of implementing health and safety initiatives, training customers while actively looking for opportunities to expand Super Strategies service offerings to the market. The Health and Safety Consultant/Trainer will work closely with all levels of management and employees within the organization and office environments to ensure safe work practices and policies in accordance with Ontario legislation, Super Strategies Health and Safety Program, and expectations of our client.

Duties:
- Initiate, promote, implement and maintain health and safety projects and initiatives.
- Provide training and consultation on safety standards in the workplace to employees and ensure all employees are adhering to these regulations.
- Evaluator: Identifying the extent of the impact of a safety training program.
- Group Facilitator: Managing group discussion and group process.
- Individual Development Counselor: Helping an employee assess personal safety competencies, values and goals.
- Instructional Writer: Preparing written learning and instructional materials.
- Instructor: Presenting safety information and directing structured learning experiences.
- Manager of Training and Development: Planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling safety training and development operations/projects.
- Marketer: Selling safety training and development viewpoints, programs and services.
- Media Specialist: Producing audio-visual materials for safety training.
- Needs Analyst: Defining gaps between ideal and actual safety performance and specifying the cause of the gaps.
- Program Administrator: Ensuring that the facilities, equipment, materials, and participants are present and that program logistics run smoothly.
- Program Designer: Preparing objectives, defining content, and selecting and sequencing activities for a specific safety training.
- Strategist: Developing long-range plans for safety training and development.
- Task Analyst: Identifying safety-related activities to attain specific results.
Qualifications:
- Occupational Health and Safety Officer Certificate or equivalent.
- Must be 'competent' in developing and implementing the various elements of a safety training program. Trainers can gain competency by achieving an appropriate level of technical knowledge, skills, and abilities in the subjects they teach. They can gain these skills through training, continuing education, and on-the-job experience.
- Possess current First Aid Responder certificate.
- Three to five years of experience implementing and promoting safe work practices and policies within a mining environment.
- Experience with disability management, accident investigation, workplace inspection, and job hazard analysis is an asset.
- Understanding of current legislation, Codes of Practice, Bulletins, and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and effective time management with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Proven ability to maintain confidences and ensure confidentiality of information and records.
- Complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common applications.
- It's important to document trainer competency by maintaining course completion certificates, experience records, licensing, and other documents. The methods used to document trainer competency are left to the discretion of the employer.
- Trainers should be competent in effective safety training delivery techniques and methods that are appropriate to the employee learning preferences. They should be able to apply adult learning principles appropriate to the target audience and the learning objectives.
- Valid Driver’s License is mandatory.
Additional Information:
Potential for field work in remote locations. Various levels of outside noise and weather. Strong potential for travel in the position. Flexible hours – hours may occur outside of typical 9-5 and Monday – Friday. Weekends and after hours may occur.
