Job summary

Conuma Resources Limited, a leading Canadian metallurgical coal producer, seeks a Health & Safety Administrator to support safety programs across our Northeast British Columbia mines. You will conduct wellness checks, enforce safety policies, and assist in incident reporting while coordinating with site teams and external regulators.

The role requires OFA Level 3, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 7x7 rotation, with a focus on maintaining high safety standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years' first aid experience with OFA Level 3.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Mining or industrial experience considered an asset.
  • Proven safety and attendance record.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and employees professionally.
  • Conduct wellness checks per procedures.
  • Monitor and enforce health and safety policies.
  • Identify and report health and safety risks and incidents.
  • Compile data and prepare reports as needed.
  • Compile man-hours and on-site headcount for regulatory compliance.
  • Support the Health & Safety Coordinator as required.
  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid.
  • Support mine safety standards and drug/alcohol programs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greet all visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Conduct wellness checks with all employees, contractors, and visitors according to company procedures.
  • Monitor, enforce, and regularly update workplace safety policies and procedures to maintain a high level of health and safety performance.
  • Identify and report health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace.
  • Compile and distribute information/data pertaining to reported incidents; accurately prepare other applicable correspondence, documents, and reports as needed.
  • Compile man-hours and number of people on-site in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Implement the claims management process.
  • Assist the Health & Safety Coordinator as required.
  • Respond to emergencies and administer competent first aid.
  • Implementation of defined health standards at mine sites, including drug and alcohol programs.
  • Participate in drug and alcohol program as a collector.
  • Ensure site security as mandated by country, provincial, state, and/or local regulatory codes, including but not limited to controlling access and egress to properties by employees, contractors, and others; monitoring all security breaches.
  • Willing to obtain a mine rescue certificate and participate in mine rescue activities.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum three years' experience in first aid experience, with OFA Level 3 Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Previous experience in the mining industry or an industrial setting is an asset.
  • Valid BC Mine Rescue Certificate is also considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Proven safety and attendance record.
  • Ability to remain calm and work effectively in emergent, high-stress situations.
  • Above average computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially spreadsheets and databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Committed to high standards in health and safety performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, good judgment, and discretion, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, able to manage tasks independently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, trainees, and leadership.
Wage and Benefits

Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Health and Safety Administrator role, we offer an annual base salary range of $55,000.00 - $70,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses, including a monthly efficiency bonuses based on safety and production targets, and quarterly retention bonuses. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks!
