Job description

Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. You will be responsible for delivering effective classroom and field-based health and safety training programs and assessments. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide classroom and field-based health, safety, and mobile equipment training in accordance with the training plan.
  • Administer testing material to evaluate competency levels in both theoretical and practical applications.
  • Assist trainees by providing ongoing mentoring to attain higher levels of competencies and skill sets.
  • Take ownership of health and safety issues using the Internal Responsibility System (IRS).
  • Undertake regular reviews of curriculum and update as may be required to ensure effective delivery and adherence to legislation and site safe work practices.
  • Develop new training materials related to manufacturer’s specifications and operational/maintenance procedures, corporate and regulatory standards, and objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to document control procedures and best practices.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a health and safety role with 3 years’ delivering health and safety training programs.
  • Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in delivering fall protection, lock out/tag out, respiratory protection, confined space, joint health and safety committee training, first aid, and other safety-related training programs.
  • Train the trainer qualification from a recognized Ontario training provider.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
