Job summary

Solotech is seeking an experienced events technician supervisor to lead setup and teardown of technical equipment across multiple disciplines. You will ensure proper installation, alignment with plans, and high-level client service while promoting safety and coordinating with stakeholders.

The role requires at least 6 years in related work, a relevant Electrical Technology or AV diploma, and the ability to read CAD drawings. Travel to sites and a flexible schedule are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in French and English, able to communicate with clients and teams.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in live productions or similar fields.
  • Diploma in Electrical Technology (AEC or DEC) or Audiovisual Technology.
  • Experience in exhibition and trade show industries.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings and modify/create drawings is an asset.
  • Experience in rigging and electrical work, strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to site; flexible schedule incl. evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead setup and teardown of technical equipment, ensuring safety standards.

Under the responsibility of the supervisor of production employees, you will participate in the installation and technical execution of local events across multiple exhibition services disciplines, including electrical, rigging, audiovisual, plumbing and signage installation. All of this takes place in a collaborative, training-focused environment filled with passionate professionals.

Your day will look like this:
  • Supervise and lead setup and teardown of technical equipments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and participate in these activities when required,
  • Ensure that equipment is properly installed and aligned with event plans and specifications,
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a high level of customer service,
  • Ensure that Solotech employees and temporary staff follow safe work practices at all times,
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for service requests (evenings and weekends), as needed.
In collaboration with the Client Services & Operations Coordinator:
  • Develop labor and staffing schedules,
  • Receive project requests, plan requirements, and prepare equipment lists based on project needs,
  • Respond to technical inquiries from clients,
  • Coordinate operations and oversee the work execution of all technicians,
  • Adhere and promote Solotech's procedures and policies regarding equipment handling and management,
  • Supervise the installation and dismantling of equipment,
  • Ensure the security and safety of installations at all times,
  • Ensure equipment operates properly and that all technical aspects of the event run smoothly,
  • Identify solutions to technical challenges and recommend improvements for project execution,
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders involved in project delivery,
  • Act as a client liaison, in partnership with the Client Services Coordinator, as required,
  • Perform any other related duties necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Your profile:
  • Bilingual in French and English,
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience,
  • Diploma in Electrical Technology (AEC or DEC) or Audiovisual Technology,
  • Relevant experience in the exhibition and trade show industry,
  • Ability to analyze and interpret CAD drawings using AutoCAD; the ability to modify and create drawings is considered an asset,
  • Experience and skills in rigging and electrical work,
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines,
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on operational requirements,
  • Ability to travel to site,
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of effectively managing priorities,
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent interpersonal abilities.
