The overall purpose of this position is to be the on-site supervisor of the Fleet Management Services (FMS) warehouse Heavy Duty Thompson, Manitoba location. This position’s responsibility is to ensure timely, efficient and cost effective acquisition, warehousing and issue of materials to all sections of Infrastructure and Transportation, other government departments and client agencies.

Paid training may be provided. Travel to southern Manitoba will be required for this training. Cost associated with travel and logging for work and training will be covered by Manitoba Government.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and moving medium to heavy loads associated with storekeeping (10 kg - 25 kg or 25lbs - 60lbs)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 drivers’ license
  • Willingness to participate and obtain a Power Forklift and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification via Air and by Ground
  • Ability to travel and work for extended periods of time (length: 3-5 days) within the Province of Manitoba
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Post secondary education and/or the equivalent of several years of supervisory or administration experience, including evaluating work of subordinates, providing formal and informal feedback, coaching and mentoring
  • Experience providing superior customer service to the public by phone and in person
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work co-operatively and constructively as part of a team
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to demonstrate political acumen with complex issues
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
Desired:
  • Knowledge of FMS products and services
  • Experience and knowledge of automotive and/or heavy-duty equipment parts and medical/safety equipment
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, sourcing, storing and distributing goods
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining inventory control procedures, with proficiency with online Inventory Management Stores Systems
Duties:

The Head Storekeeper is responsible for coordinating and administering all procedural methods used in the stores location which would include developing documents and implementing work procedures and methodologies to ensure the stockroom operates in a safe and effective manner. The Head Storekeeper is also responsible for the layout of internal and external stores department and the operation that occurs daily, including but not limited to inventory pre-listing and counting stock to conform to audit requirements, issuing stock to meet the demands of mechanics, district staff and other government departments, receiving shipments and shipping stock off locations to meet demands in the rural areas.
