Downie Timber Ltd. & Selkirk Cedar is seeking a Head Filer to lead the saw filing department in Revelstoke, BC. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and focuses on safe practices, quality standards, and efficient maintenance operations.

You will oversee staff development, scheduling, equipment reliability, and inventory management while collaborating with mill operations to optimize sawing performance and lumber quality.

Formación

• Certified Saw Filer with 8-10 years of saw filing experience.
• Class 5 Drivers license is required.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and technical abilities.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Commitment to safe work and safety program compliance.

Responsabilidades

• Provide leadership and oversight of the saw filing department, ensuring safe practices and accountable performance.
• Coordinate staffing and scheduling to meet maintenance and production requirements.
• Coach and develop team members and oversee training.
• Ensure filing work meets quality standards and maintenance documentation.
• Manage filing room inventory and equipment reliability to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose sawing defects and support mill operations to improve cutting quality and efficiency.
