Job summary

AquaEye is seeking a hands-on Head of Machine Learning to drive innovation in our embedded sonar AI algorithms. You will lead ML strategy and end-to-end development, guiding data collection, model validation, and deployment across our products.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership to shape the AI roadmap, build a high-performing team, and ensure scalable, robust ML systems for global deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in machine learning, AI, and software development.
• Proven track record of leading machine learning teams and delivering quality products.
• Experience with embedded ML on hardware / IoT devices.
• Experience translating real-world applications and customer needs into ML solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with experience using PyTorch and Scikit-learn.
• End-to-end ML project experience from data pipelines to deployment.
• Experience with Jira and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
• Strong technical communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute our ML strategy aligned with product and business objectives.
• Lead the design and evolution of signal processing and ML architectures for production systems.
• Establish technical standards and development processes for ML systems.
• Evaluate emerging ML technologies to enhance product capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership on architecture decisions and model performance.
• Oversee development, validation, deployment, and lifecycle of ML models.
• Oversee the design and scalability of signal processing pipelines.
• Define model performance metrics and drive improvements through experiments.
• Ensure robust, scalable production ML infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Oversee ML Ops practices including versioning, monitoring, and reproducibility.
• Establish dataset acquisition and governance processes.
• Lead field data collection to meet development objectives.
• Continually innovate data labeling, preprocessing, and quality assurance.
