Position Description

Faith Christian School in Roanoke, Virginia, is seeking a qualified administrator for the position of Head of Middle and Upper School. The Head of Middle and Upper School oversees all activities associated with grades six through twelve, including students and 20 faculty and staff. The Head of Middle and Upper Schools is seen as the educational leader for the division, having oversight of day-to-day operations, including curricular and extracurricular programs, scheduling, student achievement, spiritual formation, student safety, and classroom management.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Mentoring teachers to improve their craft.
  2. Facilitating a robust conversation about classical, Christian pedagogy among teachers with a view to implementing such strategies in the classroom.
  3. Maintaining a meaningful and effective teacher evaluation process.
  4. Encouraging robust professional development.
  5. Aiding the process to align curriculum between Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools through intentional communication.
  6. Forging greater unity among faculty across divisions.
  7. Supporting and collaborating with the Dean of Students to improve school culture.
  8. All hiring related to the division.

Applicants should demonstrate a mature walk with Christ, an understanding of and commitment to the historic creeds of the Christian faith, and a desire to disciple students, nourishing their souls in truth, goodness, and beauty. His or her skill set should include excellent interpersonal communication, organizational and management skills, teamwork and collaboration, strategic planning, and problem-solving. The position starts this summer in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year. The position reports to the Head of School and serves on the administrative team. Previous experience preferred.
