Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Director for Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) to lead the global IT General Controls program within Corporate Financial Reporting. The role emphasizes strong collaboration with auditors, senior management, and cross-functional teams to ensure robust internal controls and audit readiness.

The position is permanent full-time with a hybrid work model, based in Winnipeg with potential flexibility for other Canadian locations.

Qualifications

• Over five years of experience in IT risk and internal controls.
• CPA, CISA or similar certification is a strong asset.
• Familiar with COSO, COBIT, NIST and IT control frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-department collaboration.
• Project management experience is required.
• Experience in insurance or finance is a plus.
• Understanding of SOC 1, SOC 2 and ISO certifications.
• Proven time in leading and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage the ITGC scope and program for the ICOFR initiative.
• Lead ITGC governance with business units, IT risk, and compliance.
• Engage with internal and external auditors to maintain audit readiness.
• Present ITGC results, gaps, and updates to senior leadership and Audit Committee.
• Guide and develop team members to strengthen capabilities.
• Ensure IT controls align with financial regulations and standards.
• Collaborate across divisions to strengthen overall control environment.
