Position:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Inventory and Logistics to lead all inventory control, warehousing, and distribution operations in our EU-GMP certified indoor cannabis production facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and accurate handling of raw materials, consumables, and finished products within a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of inventory control, ERP systems, and cannabis industry regulations, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Oversee end-to-end inventory management, including receiving, storage, internal movement, dispatch, and real-time record-keeping using ERP and seed-to-sale systems.
- Ensure full compliance with Health Canada regulations, EU-GMP standards, and internal SOPs for warehousing, documentation, material handling, and waste management.
- Lead and optimize warehouse operations and logistics, supporting production, packaging, and distribution through effective space planning, stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and secure material transport.
- Conduct regular audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Finance to ensure accurate reporting, GMP-compliant storage, and timely regulatory submissions, including CTLS reporting.
- Develop and enforce inventory control policies, SOPs, and best practices to drive efficiency, reduce risks, and ensure operational excellence.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, customs brokers, and transportation partners to support inbound and outbound supply chain needs.
- Lead, train, and mentor warehouse and logistics staff to uphold safety, compliance, and performance standards.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
- Experience in inventory and logistics management within a GMP-regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, or cannabis preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of EU-GMP requirements and best practices for material storage and movement.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and cannabis-specific inventory platforms (e.g., BioTrack, METRC, Ample Organics).
- Proficiency in excel and all Microsoft programs.
- Knowledge of financial reporting systems.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing controlled substances or regulated materials is a strong asset.
A certification in inventory or logistics management (e.g., APICS, CCLP, Six Sigma) is a plus.
