Job summary

The Mason Group is partnering with a growing International Trading client to fill a Finance Partner role in the Vancouver area. You may currently be at Controller, Director, VP, or CFO level for a small company.

You will work closely with senior management, drive strategic financial decisions, and help grow the business. A strong technical accounting foundation (ASPE preferred) and hands-on full cycle accounting experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Canadian CPA designation (required).
• Minimum 5+ years of post-designation experience, including 3+ years in a senior role in a dynamic growing company.
• Experience with international business exposure is a definite asset.

Fit is key with this hire so you may currently be at the Controller level, Director, VP or potentially even a CFO for a small company. With centrally located Greater Vancouver offices this job description will be yours to write however they need you to tick a few boxes:

A strong technical accounting base is a must for this hands-on role as you play a critical part in the company's ongoing success. Although full cycle accounting for the group of companies is your responsibility, that is not only what you are being hired for and it should ultimately be a smaller part of your focus as you use technology to automate processes and build relationships to help streamline the business processes. Contracts, import/export laws, tariffs and financings are all part of this role.

This dynamic opportunity blends the need to work closely with senior management, operations, external advisors and business partners, with the ability to provide strategic decision support to help drive the future direction and continued growth of this successful company. Building and understanding the financial models, presenting the results at 'the table' and making recommendations are a critical part of this role.

Requirements

• A Canadian CPA designation is a must.
• A minimum of 5+ or more years of progressive post-designation experience including 3+ years in a senior level role in a dynamic growing company.
• International business experience or exposure is a definite asset.
• Experience with a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role is a have-to-have.
• Excellent technical accounting knowledge. ASPE preferred.
• Exposure to the import/export and/or construction supplies business is a big plus.
• 1+ years of inventory management experience is a differentiator.
• Experience with external business partners (banks, lawyers, accountants etc) is critical.
• Outstanding and effective written & verbal communications.
• Advanced level Excel user with strong financial modelling skills.
• Experience with selecting and implementing an ERP system.
• A people person who is able to work collaboratively and respectfully at all levels with both internal and external customers within an international company across many time zones.
