The OEC leader in the local Affiliate reports through the AbbVie Office of Ethics & Compliance Organization. You will provide leadership, oversight, and enhancement of the Ethics & Compliance Program in Canada, and contribute to the overall affiliate business & talent strategy as a member of the local Affiliate Management Team (AMT).

Key responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a best-in-class compliance program in partnership with the Affiliate Compliance Insights Forum (ACIF).
  • Provide guidance on industry codes, government regulations, and initiatives related to ethics & compliance.
  • Act as a strategic partner by advising on affiliate programs, activities, and strategies, and analyzing legal and regulatory issues.
  • Perform risk assessments, trend analyses, and implement best practices.
  • Detect, anticipate, and prevent compliance risks.
  • Implement and interpret compliance policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to global compliance initiatives and develop training programs.
  • Maintain organized records and participate in relevant meetings and external industry groups.
  • Develop and oversee monitoring plans and ensure compliance with policies and external mandates.
  • Coordinate investigations, audits, and reporting of compliance incidents.
  • Partner with peers globally to advance the compliance program.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to direct reports.
  • Assist in recruiting and supervising compliance liaison staff.

Position Accountability/Scope

  • Operate within defined expectations with supervision from the manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; experience in Finance, Audit, Legal, or Regulatory fields preferred.
  • Experience in Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, or related functions.
  • Pharmaceutical or global industry experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of management experience.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of the business environment.
  • Action through Insight: Learning mindset, analytical skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to set direction and prioritize effectively.
  • Integration and Influence: Ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Process Control: Monitor and improve compliance policies and trainings.
  • Expert Judgement: Wise decision-making under pressure, managing ambiguity.
  • Impactful Implementation: Drive results, manage multiple priorities.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills in English.
