Head of Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO)

Synopsis of the role:

The Head of EPMO will oversee all Equifax Canada Intake and Enterprise Project Management. This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer and collaborates closely with various local and global product, technology, and operations teams, as well as other functions, to drive the successful planning and execution of strategic initiatives.

The Head of EPMO is responsible for establishing and maintaining best-in-class project management practices, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven track record of managing complex projects and building a high-performing project management team.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership & Governance:

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide project management methodologies aligned with industry best practices (e.g., PMBOK, Agile, Lean).
  • Establish and maintain a robust project governance framework, including project intake, prioritization, and portfolio management.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to project managers and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ensure projects align with strategic objectives and contribute to business outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to measure EPMO effectiveness and project success.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations to senior management on portfolio performance and project status.
  • Manage project financial forecasts and change requests in line with budgets and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project management processes and tools.

Project Intake & Planning:

  • Establish and manage a standardized project intake process, including business case development and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate project kickoff meetings and ensure clear communication of expectations.
  • Manage portfolio-level planning and resource allocation.

Project Execution & Monitoring:

  • Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to plans and timelines.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers, resolving issues and removing roadblocks.
  • Monitor progress and identify risks and issues.
  • Implement change management processes for scope changes.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and quality standards.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions.
  • Enforce project management standards across the organization.
  • Manage reporting and stakeholder communication.
  • Build and lead a high-performing EPMO team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

Experience and Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles overseeing large-scale projects or programs.
  • Experience in Fintech or Financial Services required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with strong stakeholder management at all levels.
  • Proven experience establishing and scaling a PMO in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Track record leading cross-functional teams and aligning project strategies with business goals.
  • Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management for enterprise initiatives.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project).
  • Highly organized, results-oriented, self-starter, and team player.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (preferred).
  • PMP or PgMP certification.
