About The Role
As the Head of Engineering & Architecture, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will drive the technical vision, execution, and architecture of our core fintech platforms. You’ll oversee engineering teams responsible for delivering high-performance, compliant, and secure systems that power trading, risk analytics, portfolio management, and client servicing tools. Your role is both strategic and hands-on, ensuring our tech stack supports innovation, scale, and resilience in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

1. Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of core systems, including trading platforms, data systems, APIs, reporting platforms, and client portals.
2. Drive scalable and secure infrastructure strategies using cloud-native technologies and microservice-based architectures.
3. Oversee engineering delivery across cross-functional agile teams, ensuring high code quality, robust DevOps practices, and continuous improvement.
4. Ensure adherence to CyberSecurity standards in every aspect of engineering and design.
5. Manage EUC needs across the organization.
6. Partner with product, compliance, and data teams to ensure technical solutions align with regulatory requirements (KYC, AML, SOC 2) and business priorities.
7. Champion engineering excellence and architectural governance, establishing best practices, technical standards, and a strong documentation culture.
8. Mentor and grow engineering leaders and senior developers, cultivating a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture.

Primary Skills & Qualifications

1. Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, Technology Management, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, PMP, ITIL) is a plus.
2. 7+ years of experience in an Architecture and Design role, ideally within a tech, fintech, or consulting environment.
3. Strong understanding of technology functions, solution design and cost drivers, including infrastructure, software development, cloud services, and tooling.
4. Experience designing data platforms in the Capital Markets or Asset Management industry will be a definite plus.
5. Specific industry experience in Prime Brokerage, Risk Management, Hedge Funds, Fund Administration will be an asset.
6. Must have expertise in architecture and design of Data Platforms and Web applications.
7. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to synthesize technical and financial information for diverse audiences.
8. Technology expertise on design of scalable cloud hosted data platforms like Databricks, Azure Fabric, Snowflake etc.
9. Experience with tools like Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or Workday Adaptive Planning is an asset.
