Position Summary
The Head of Bids & Captures reports to the VP Growth Industry and Corporate Affairs and is responsible for all aspects of new business capture and bid management. The Head of Bid & Captures is the senior Capture Leader within Thales defense business in Canada and leadership of the bid management team. The Head of Bids & Capture is responsible for all processes related to bid and capture management including the development of the financial offers and responsibility for the organization\'s bid and capture budget and resources.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead the planning and preparation of proposals developed by the Bid Team. Develop Price-To-Win model based on market intelligence and analysis of RFP criteria.
- As assigned assume the Capture Lead role for key bids. Lead the capture team in the development and execution of the capture plan consistent with the business mandate. Develop and maintain strong relationships with Business Lines (BL) counterparts including business leaders, finance and contracts in Canada and within Thales Global Business Units and Business Lines.
- Lead contract negotiations for the business and successfully negotiate contracts in force in collaboration with Legal & Contracts, collaboration with Business Development; conduct Make-Team-Buy analysis and bring recommendations forward to secure mandate from the Supervisory Authority.
- Review and assess all financial aspects of bids. Manage bid and proposal budget. Maintain Bid Schedule / Register; assign and de-conflict resource allocations.
- Identify and assess risks and mitigation strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information to develop successful bid.
- Ensure all capture activities comply with relevant regulations and ethical standards. Promote adherence to organizational policies and procedures. Ongoing review and improvement of the bid management process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
People Management
- Coach, mentor and develop staff including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Lead employees to meet the organizations expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement and goal accomplishment.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for cohesiveness, support and working effectively together enabling each employee and the department to succeed.
- Provide oversight and direction to Bid Management team in accordance with the organization\'s policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in business, engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in business development, sales or captures within relevant industries.
- Proven experience in bid management and proposal writing.
- Familiarity with project management and proposal development processes.
- Understanding of the industry and technical aspects relevant to the company\'s products and services.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team.

Compensation
The Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position includes base salary and variable compensation. TTC: 159,432.90 – 212,577.20 – 317,390.00 CAD annually. This range is a guideline and may vary based on factors including career path, competencies, skills, performance, and budget. Additional benefits and other compensation may be offered where applicable.
