Head Housekeeper

We are currently recruiting for a Head Housekeeper. This is a full-time position, working 36.25 hours per week, over 5 days (Monday to Sunday).

Overall Objective:

Supervise the day-to-day running of the Housekeeping Department, working with the team to ensure a high standard of cleanliness in all areas.

Main Responsibilities:

• Maintain agreed standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all public areas, bedrooms, and recreation areas, following correct procedures and infection control guidelines.
• Organize daily work requirements and set standards for the team, ensuring SOPs are filled in daily, signed, and filed appropriately.
• Maintain equipment, furniture, and furnishings, reporting faults as needed.
• Manage linen procedures, ensuring proper handling and administration.
• Address client feedback and complaints in collaboration with nursing staff.
• Liaise with staff to meet and exceed client expectations regarding cleanliness.
• Ensure safety of clients, property, and staff.
• Keep cleaning stores, linen rooms, trolleys, and materials tidy.
• Record deliveries and items taken from stores accurately.
• Purchase correct products cost-effectively and manage stock control.
• Supervise the Domestic team to ensure high standards.
• Ensure PPE is available and used properly.
• Report refurbishment needs.
• Perform any other reasonable requests from management.

Training:

• Induct new staff members.
• Train and encourage existing staff.
• Coordinate with the DON for additional training needs.
• Participate actively in training sessions and apply learned skills.

Health & Safety:

• Report mechanical issues and ensure staff compliance.
• Be familiar with fire and evacuation procedures.
• Use resources efficiently, complying with HACCP and health & safety policies.
• Enforce the Home’s health & safety policies.
