Overview
Manage and oversee complete mine operation and actively involved in the following:
- Prepare and communicate weekly mine plans and schedules
- Communicate daily plans to Supervisors and Surveyors
- Design drill and blast patterns
- Monitor drill and blast performance and identify areas for improvements
- Develop long term mine plans and schedules
- Support in preparing annual budget for Mine Operations
- Maintain up to date pit and waste dump designs
- Manage various construction projects on site related to mining
- Monitor costs and ensure projects are being executed on time and within budget
- Play a major role in the development of planning and reporting systems
- Undertake regular audits and inspections as required
- Prepare technical reports relating to mine plans and performance
- Formulate Annual business plan as per business objectives
- Statutory compliance management
- Implementation of global industry benchmarks
- Equipment scheduling as per business objectives
Carry out transformation projects as per requirements.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering combined with a minimum of 17-20 years of relevant experience
- Extensive experience in an open pit Iron Ore Mining environment, of which a minimum of 7 years should have been in a leadership role
- Managerial experience managing interdisciplinary teams of over twenty individuals, preferably in high tonnage operations.
- Personally committed to the highest safety and environmental standards, and able to take full responsibility for safety at the operation with minimum supervision
- Written and verbal communication skills in French would be an asset
