Head Diesel Mechanic

Our vital and growing firm is searching for a highly skilled Head Diesel Truck Mechanic responsible for working on and maintaining our fleet of over 50 vehicles and equipment, including Freightliner FL70's, MT55's service trucks, Mack tandem and tri-axle dump trucks, CAT backhoes, Case 580 backhoes, 185CFM and 210CFM air compressors, and a wide assortment of pneumatic and other tools.

Responsibilities

  • Train and manage a team of mechanics.
  • Manage work orders, inventory of parts, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Service heavy diesel engine vehicles, including preventative, routine maintenance, and repairs.
  • Handle routine repairs, including oil and tire changes.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles and all other equipment in our fleet.
  • Execute special projects as assigned by management.
  • Possess own mechanical tool set.
  • Knowledge of DOT inspections and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Keep detailed records and maintenance schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant diesel vehicle experience.
  • Must have own set of tools.
  • Mechanical and technical knowledge: use of computers and diagnostics tools to troubleshoot and repair all faulty equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair: Electrical, Brakes, Exhaust, Suspension, Lights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and seek additional information as appropriate.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
