Simon Fraser University (SFU), a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II institution and a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), invites qualified candidates to apply for the full-time position of Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning. The SFU Strength and Conditioning program is a high-performance program that trains and supports student-athletes from 16 NCAA Division II varsity sports sponsored by SFU.
About The Role
The Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning is under the general supervision of the Associate Director, Student Athlete Services. The role involves leading the development of the SFU Strength and Conditioning program to achieve the objectives that are consistent with the department. Establishing positive relationships with the department staff and other university departments and faculties is essential for success. The position includes providing guidance and support to student-athletes towards achieving their athletic potential. Ensuring the health, safety, integrity, and education welfare of student-athletes is a key responsibility. Additionally, it requires adherence to the procedures, policies and best practices established by Simon Fraser University, SFU Athletics and Recreation and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with high performance athletes. NSCA-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification with valid membership with NSCA or Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology – Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) or equivalent.
