  1. Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  2. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  3. Supervise activities of kitchen staff including specialist chefs, cooks, and other workers
  4. Create new recipes
  5. Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation
  6. Prepare and cook meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  7. Supervise kitchen staff activities
  8. Prepare and cook food for regular service or special occasions
  9. Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  10. Plan menus and ensure food quality standards are met
  11. Prepare dishes accommodating food allergies or intolerances
  12. Recruit and hire kitchen staff
  13. Train staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling
