OUR ROLE

We are in search of a highly skilled and inspirational culinary leader for the position of Head Chef, responsible for driving the vision, culture and success of the culinary teams at the Dorian & Courtyard. This position will manage all aspects of the kitchen and kitchen associates, ensuring the quality preparation and presentation of all menu items and proper handling/storage of all food items in accordance with company standards and sanitation/health regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of enthusiasm and collaboration, with a keen ability to build and maintain a team of top performers, ensuring the highest level of food creativity & quality.

Key accountabilities include:

Consistently providing the highest quality of service to our customers and staff alike, setting a shining example for our team.

Developing and creating exciting new menus that showcase the vision of our restaurant, using local ingredients to craft an extraordinary culinary experience.

Maintaining the consistent quality of our offerings by testing products and refining delivery methods.

Monitoring customer satisfaction, auditing food offerings, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

Ensuring the highest level of staff satisfaction through selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, developing, recognizing and rewarding our staff.

Providing exceptional instruction to cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of menu items.

Requisitioning of food and kitchen supplies, maintaining approved food cost and within budget.

Ensuring proper physical working conditions including kitchen tools and equipment.

Maintaining a safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures, complying with health and legal regulations.

Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the industry, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking best practices, and participating in community events.

YOUR STORY

A Red-Seal certified, seasoned professional chef with a flair for innovation possessing a minimum of two years’ experience leading a kitchen in an upscale Restaurant operation in a downtown city center.

Someone with an outstanding work ethic, along with a track record of reliability, punctuality and an approachable demeanor, with a strong commitment to safety.

Someone who has solid leadership skills, adept at training, coaching and motivating a team of culinary professionals, passionate about helping them develop technique and artistry.

An exceptional problem-solver, knowing how to troubleshoot, resolve situations efficiently, with the ability to shift priorities as needed, including handling customer or staff situations that may occur outside of typical work hours.

Able to work well under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communicator who values teamwork and collaboration.

Able to combine strategic planning and day-to-day management.

Physically able to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, crouch, and lift or carry objects up to 40 pounds or more.
