Qualifications

  • Must have a valid 450mm HDPE Pipe Fusion Training Certificate.
  • Minimum 10,000 m of HDPE pipe welding experience.
  • Experience in mentoring and training.

HDPE Fusion Technicians are essential in driving production on site and in the trench. They are expected to have demonstrated competency to a supervisor, or designated mentor, in all Core Responsibilities of a HDPE Pipe Fuser. It is an expectation they adhere to the policies outlined in Hall’s HSE and are an active participant in site organization and safety.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Drives production of the crew
  • Ability to mentor/train labourers & pipelayers
  • Direct machinery
  • Can read drawings
  • Performs quality control tests
  • Identify soil types
  • Understands correct amount of gravel placement around pipe prior to backfill
  • Submit to engineers samples of type of molded, fabricated and flanged fitting, and ball valve used in a project


You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid 450mm HDPE Pipe Fusion Training Certificate
  • Must have a minimum of 10,000 m of HDPE pipe welding experience and 1000 m of 450mm diameter pipe.
  • Be able to submit 2 job references from HDPE fusing companies
  • Years of experience: Minimum 2
  • Education: High School or Equivalent
  • Considered an asset:
    • Ground Disturbance Lv. 2
    • Confined Space
    • Fall Protection
    • First Aid
  • Physical fitness for high-intensity tasks.
    • Lift up to 50lbs
  • This role includes tasks requiring respiratory protection. Employees must be clean-shaven and fit-tested for ½ or full non-powered respirators, as per Provincial OHS Regulations and Hall OHS Policy.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as necessary to meet project deadlines.

Technical Skills:

  • Understands proper setup and utilization of laser
  • Basic understanding of site drawings
  • Installs pipe at grade (PVC, HDPE, Concrete)
  • Understands and utilizes proper rigging procedure including choosing the correct rigging, clutches & shackles
  • Benching/Installation of manholes & catch basins
  • Exposing and supporting buried utilities
