About the Role:
Discovery Community College is committed to academic excellence and fostering a dynamic learning environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate on-site Health Care Assistant (HCA) Instructor to support and guide students and helping prepare them for successful entry into the healthcare workforce.

This position is primarily for an online theory course, to be delivered from a ourKelowna ,BC campus. The role plays a key part in ensuring students receive a comprehensive, hands-on educational experience that meets both regulatory standards and industry expectations. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical knowledge, a supportive teaching approach, and a commitment to student success.

This part-time role Monday to Friday offers variable hours up to 34 hours per week and has the potential to lead to future advancements within the college. The position also includes a one-week summer break, providing flexibility and balance during the term.

Rate Range: $32 to $35/hour
Course Duration:September 2nd, 2025, to November 25th, 2025

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate student learning in classroom, providing guidance and support throughout.
  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments aligned with course objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with program accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and college policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and evaluations.
Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of full-time nursing experience – required.
    • 2800 hours of nursing experience
    • nursing experience must include working with older adults with complex health needs
    • Nursing experience must include experience or orientation in home support and multi-level care
  • Ability to teach adult learners (mentoring / instructing)
    • Provincial Instructors Diploma and previous experience or
    • Aptitude and willingness to learn and obtain an Instructor Diploma (with our help)
