Job summary

SECURE in Richmond, BC is seeking a Transfer Station Technician to receive hazardous and non-hazardous waste, verify documentation, and manage waste streams. You will ensure regulatory compliance, track waste, and support daily operations.

The role requires lifting, standing, outdoor work in all weather, and teamwork, with a standard 40-hour week, occasional on-call, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to ensure regulatory compliance in hazardous waste disposal.
• Experience with waste manifests, bills of lading, inspection reports, and safety paperwork.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather and stand for long periods.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Update waste tracking systems and communicate with Project Coordinators and the Billing team.
• Identify, verify, and receive hazardous and non-hazardous waste entering the facility.
• Ensure all required documents meet legal requirements and maintain compliance with SECURE guidelines.
• Ensure waste is accurately packaged, classified, documented, and stored.
• Consolidate and repack waste as required for efficient processing and transportation.
• Perform field-level waste identification tests as required to ensure paperwork accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare waste samples for laboratory analysis as required.
• Actively participate in safety meetings and daily tailgate meetings.
• Perform repair and maintenance tasks and general labour duties.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement activities such as Hazard Identifications, non-conformance reports, Hazard Hunts, and Inspections.
• Follow SECURE’s Occupational Health and Safety Program and contribute to a safe work environment.
