EXP is seeking a Hazardous Materials and Air Quality Technologist to join our Brampton office. The Environmental group is fast-paced and growth-oriented, ideal for individuals who are proactive and eager to build on current successes.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Conduct building investigations for asbestos, designated substances, mould, and other hazardous materials.
- Complete assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances, air quality, and workplace exposures independently or as part of a team to support clients across various sectors.
- Provide engineering/technical support for abatement projects involving hazardous materials.
- Collect air and bulk samples during investigations and abatement activities.
- Analyze phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for asbestos.
- Interpret laboratory analytical results.
- Conduct air quality assessments, including indoor air, occupational exposure, ventilation, and regulatory reporting.
- Perform indoor and outdoor air sampling and monitoring, workplace exposure assessments, and emissions inventory management.
- Inspect work being performed at construction sites.
- Collect data, perform dispersion modeling, analyze results, and prepare reports.
- Communicate with clients and troubleshoot issues independently onsite.
- Report to Project Managers and Senior Management, and prepare technical reports on investigations and abatement activities.
What your experience looks like
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- College Diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology, or a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Science.
- Strong report-writing skills.
- Experience in a client service environment with developed client interaction skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Highly motivated, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to follow and give directions effectively.
- Valid G driver's license and own transportation for regular site travel.
- Availability for some weekends, unscheduled hours, and nights.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Knowledge of building construction and relevant regulations is an asset.
- Experience with PCM analysis and acoustic assessments is considered an asset.
- 1 to 2 years of related experience is preferred.
