Hatchery Technician-Northampton NB

Mowi Canada East, is currently seeking a highly motivated individualto join the Freshwater team as Hatchery Technicianat our Salmon Hatchery in Northampton, NB.

In this role you will be responsible for all the duties of a Hatchery Technician including, feeding, grading/counting or measuring fish, mortality removal, site security, maintenance and clean up, reporting, record keeping and document management, monitoring fish behaviour, appearance and health while ensuring safety and biosecurity measures are being followed.

The successful candidate will be safety oriented and willing to work in a team environment with a passion for the company and industry. As a company that embraces constant learning and industry professionalism, applicants with aquaculture experience and/or relevant post-secondary education will be given preference.

The ideal candidate would posses:

• Hatchery or Aquaculture related education and/or experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills and ability to review and enter data.
• Physically capable and comfortable working long hours and extended shifts.
• Ability handle up to 25kg of material, multitask and complete repetitive physical tasks.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and desire to work in a team oriented environment.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in challenging environmental conditions.
• Willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the job as needed.
