Job summary

AMD in Markham, Ontario, seeks a highly motivated Hardware Design intern/co-op to join the team and work toward the design, build, and delivery of high-end AI/ML hardware products. You will collaborate with Design Engineers on ASIC verification, memory interfaces, RTL design, and test-enabled flows.

You will gain hands-on experience with SystemVerilog, UVM, and C++, while learning advanced verification techniques and design-for-test methodologies in a hybrid/on-site environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Canada-based Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• Strong foundation in digital logic, VLSI concepts, and semiconductor devices.
• Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL hardware description languages.
• Exposure to UVM methodologies is a plus.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, TCL, Ruby) and UNIX/Linux environments.
• Interest or experience in Machine Learning, ASIC design, and PD/DFT.
• Knowledge of Ruby on Rails and MySQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design engineers on physical design verification and implementation for ASIC.
• Work on memory interface simulations (e.g., GDDR7, HBM).
• Contribute to discrete and embedded hardware and chip-to-chip interconnects.
• Participate in RTL design using Verilog.
• Assist timing-driven placement and power-aware design flows.
• Assist floor planning, clock/power distribution, and timing analysis.
• Support design-for-test (DFT) and static power analyses.
• Assist in building test libraries and models using SystemVerilog, UVM, and C++.
